Frequently asked questions

Why is WebP smaller than JPG and PNG?

WebP uses more modern compression, so at the same visual quality files are typically 25–35% smaller than JPG and often far smaller than PNG. Every modern browser supports it.

Will converting to WebP reduce my image size?

Usually yes. At the default 80% quality most photos shrink a lot with no visible difference. If a file would come out larger (for example an image that was already heavily compressed), “Keep it smaller than the original” lowers the quality step by step until it is smaller.

Does converting lose quality?

WebP and JPG are lossy formats — 75–85% quality is visually identical for most photos. Choose PNG for pixel-perfect, lossless output.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Images and PDFs are processed with your browser’s Canvas API and never leave your device.

Can I convert a PDF to an image?

Yes. Upload a PDF and the first page is rendered at high resolution, ready to save as WebP, JPG or PNG.
