Make your PDF smaller while text stays sharp — or choose a target like “under 200 KB” for government and job forms. Your file never leaves your device.

How to use the Compress PDF

  1. 1

    Choose a PDF.

  2. 2

Frequently asked questions

Are my PDFs uploaded?

No. Your files are processed inside your browser and never leave your device, so they stay private — even bank statements and ID documents.

Will the text stay sharp?

With Recommended and Light, only the photos inside the PDF are made smaller — text, lines and links stay exactly as they were. “Under a target size” first tries that, and only turns the pages into images if that’s the only way to reach the target.

Why didn’t my PDF get much smaller?

PDFs made mostly of text are already small, so there’s little to remove. Scanned documents and PDFs with photos shrink the most. Choose “Maximum” or a target size for scans.

Can I compress a PDF to under 100 KB or 200 KB for a government form?

Yes. Choose the target size and the tool lowers the resolution step by step until the file fits, keeping it as readable as possible.
